Though it’s the Year of the Horse, we’re kicking off 2026 with a rabbit friend instead. And, yes, it’s not all cats and dogs at ARK. Since its founding in 1990, the shelter has taken in quite an array of animals, including guinea pigs, hamsters and even a fox.
This sweet little bunny is named Jaina and she’s a Netherland dwarf. Light tan in color, she’s 3 years old and a really big eater — an important trait for a rabbit to stay healthy.
Jaina is a very friendly girl that loves to hop around her foster home in Tokyo, where she is waiting to be adopted. Word is she’s very active, but also loves to relax in her favorite spots around the apartment. She’s good at communicating her needs, coming over when she wants attention or hears the rustle of a bag of treats. Stroking the top of her head can even lull her to sleep.
Though a rabbit’s affection isn’t expressed as overtly as that of a dog or cat, once you learn how to read bunny, you’ll realize Jaina has a lot to say.
